Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact has called for greater respect for the rights of indigenous peoples in its comments on the draft Environmental and Social Framework of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). The comments endorsed by 119 organizations from 27 countries include recommendations for stronger safeguard for indigenous peoples. October 2015.

Special Rapporteurs and Independent Experts of the UN Human Rights Council Comments on the Draft Environmental and Social Framework of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and letter to AIIB.  In their joint letter the UN human rights experts welcomed the steps taken by the AIIB to establish mandatory environmental and social standards, but recommended that human rights should be more rigorously integrated within the proposed safeguard policies.  The experts said that human rights norms apply as well to AIIB’s own business conduct, noting that all prospective founding members of the bank have ratified several binding international human rights treaties.
